Imagine you need to get to the airport early one morning, get home after a night out or travel for work. Whenever you need a private driver, the best thing to do is to order a taxi in advance. Today we will give you some suggestions to help you book a taxi so you can get around stress-free.

Why reserve a taxi in advance?

If you need to get around Paris or a more rural location by taxi, you will quickly realise that more often than not you need to book a vehicle. Contrary to the typical image of busy American cities, it’s actually quite difficult to find taxis in France on the street – especially away from the big cities. This is why we strongly suggest you book a taxi in advance when planning your journeys.

Booking a taxi by telephone

One of the easiest ways to order a taxi is by telephone. You’ll need to have the number of a driver or booking centre to hand. If you know a taxi company that you regularly use, call them directly. This will spare you the fees of ordering a taxi through a centre, but the system is less secure – so make sure your service provider is trustworthy. You can also book a taxi by calling a booking centre. However, the call might incur fees and there may be a reservation cost.

Booking a taxi online

Nowadays, many taxi companies have developed online platforms to help clients reserve a taxi directly on the internet. Some specialised sites will let you reserve a fare with a selection of different taxi companies or independent drivers. Ordering a taxi online is extremely practical as you can do it from home at any time of the day (or night!). This reservation system also allows you to pay your fare in advance, to avoid you having to remember to bring cash or check whether a card machine will be available. Finally, reserving a taxi online is an ideal way of customizing your vehicle choice (with disabled access, booster seats, space for animals etc.).

Booking a taxi through an app

Chauffeur car services are not the only ones offering taxi reservations apps for your smartphone. More and more taxi companies are using mobile apps to simplify the process of ordering a vehicle. With these apps, no matter where you are you can book a taxi. In just a few clicks on your phone, you can order a taxi, a group vehicle, a shared car or even an electric taxi.
