Taxis suitable for big families: our advice

Taxis for big families
30 Mar 2017

Travelling as a big family is not always an easy task. And understandably so – trips take a lot longer to plan and need much more preparation. When there’s a lot of people to look after, it’s almost impossible to do things off the cuff – you need to think about your journeys and how you’ll get around in advance. This is why we’ve decided to dedicate an article to booking taxis for big families. We hope you’ll find a lot of advice and tips here to make your journeys easier, all while keeping the group happy, healthy – and most importantly, together.

Booking a taxi for a large family: some key tips

Believe it or not, booking a group taxi is not as complicated as you might expect. Taking a taxi with other people could even be a great, sociable way to start your trip! All you need to do is call a taxi company which specialises in family trips. First, you need to find the right company, making sure that they offer group vehicles. Don’t worry – it’s definitely not an impossible feat, but rather a task that needs to be organised in advance and not left to last-minute stress.

The advantages of taking a taxi together

One of the biggest advantages of taking a group taxi is the relative cost. In actual fact – and contrary to popular belief – group taxis don’t bill shared taxi rides at a higher price than normal ones! On top of this, if you ask about obtaining the ‘large family’ card offered by a taxi company, you could even save money with various offers and deductions. This may well be a service that interests you for big family trips to the airport, for example. All in all, taking a group taxi is a lot more advantageous than splitting up your family into separate cars – which can often be uncomfortable and a waste of time.

Booking a taxi for a large family: which companies are available?

You might be wondering which companies actually offer services for a large group travelling together. As you’ve seen, the one disadvantage of taking a group taxi is the fact that you have to book it in advance – it’s not very likely that you’ll come across a vehicle big enough to transport your entire family in the street. It’s much better, then, to have a few taxi company names up your sleeve in case you need to book a vehicle for your family.
We’ve decided to present you with two taxi companies that we know and use in France. The first one is the company taxi21 which offers great discounts on group fares and special deductions for big families. We also would like to mention the well-known company G7 based in Paris, who offer a range of special family services under the title “Family Cab”, including over 150 different vehicles (minivans, people carriers). And this little titbit of information may help you make up your mind – G7 even offer kids CDs on board including well-known children’s songs, nursery rhymes and lullabies. So next time you’re looking for a calm, stress-free journey with your whole family, this could be the company for you!
