WeCab: pay less for your taxi journeys

Order a taxi with wecab
15 Apr 2017

If you are interested in paying less for your taxi journeys you may already have heard of several ways you can achieve this. What you might not have heard of is an audacious initiative the allows you to drastically diminish the cost of a taxi ride. The concept? Share the cost of a taxi journey with other passengers who are planning on travelling towards the same destination as you (uniquely train stations and airports for the time being). As well as increasing your chances of having an interesting journey in good company, you considerably reduce the amount you would have paid. In an instant you’ll know all there is to know about the WeCab service.

Shared taxis: why choose WeCab?

What if we were to tell you that WeCab offered the cheapest taxi options available on the market!? Would that be a good enough reason? At least this is what the brand affirms with pride. For the time being we haven’t had the opportunity to verify this claim ourselves but we can affirm that it is a tool that simplifies the shared taxi experience, which in turn is beneficial to the environment and certainly will save you money on the price of a regular, solo, taxi journey. The concept has existed for a while and over the last few months has really started to take off. Being French but targeting an international market WeCab’s slogan uses both French and English words to create a play on words: Plus on share, moins c’est cher. Literally the more we share the less we pay, the trouble is it doesn’t rhyme when only in English. WeCab is owned by G7 one of the largest taxi companies in France and the one who first brought the concept of shared taxis to the country.

WeCab: how to sign-up up to the scheme

So you want to know how to become a part of this new trend? There are two main alternatives. You can create an account on the WeCab website using this link: G7 partagé. You can find a taxi journey in the Mes Trajets or my journeys tab. In order to officially activate it you have to enter the reference of your journey. The other method you can use is a little more old-school and involves picking up the telephone and dialling 01 41 27 77 93 the phone number for shared taxis. When calling this number you will be able to sign-up but when booking your first journey you will also need to provide the reference. In both instances you will receive a text message confirmation, detailing the exact place and time for the pick-up.

WeCab: the conditions for the journeys

If you want to travel in a G7 shared taxi you should know the conditions necessary. Above all the basic rule as mentioned earlier is that WeCab offer airports transfers and journeys to and from train stations. This is because these are the more common destinations for taxi journeys, the key word there being common! We can’t share unless we have something in common. There are also other criteria that determine whether or not it will be possible to place you in a WeCab. These criteria are taken into account by the company who will determine the outcome. Place of departure, time of departure, geographic situation and traffic will all be taken into account before grouping passengers into a vehicle that best suits everyone and offers the simplest quickest route.

Cost of a journey with WeCab

You must certainly be asking now what difference in price there is between the cost of a shared taxi and the cost of a regular taxi. As taxi journeys differ in length and time we cannot give you an exact sum for the cost but in general you can use some basic maths. If you would have taken the taxi to the airport on your own anyway but now you are taking it with three other people you will only pay a quarter of the original price. There are more and more WeCab taxis being used in Paris these days so now is the time to start using them.
